Jeremy Hsiao
Jeremy Hsiao (he/him) is an artist and researcher working at the intersection of sound, cognition, and computational media. His research investigates how we perceive and structure sound, ranging from EEG-based attention decoding to audio onset detection and denoising systems. His Stanford Communication capstone, The Evolution of EEG-Based Music Research, combined meta-analysis with full-stack development to create an interactive visualization of 50+ years of brain-music experiments, highlighting methodological shifts in how music cognition has been studied through signal processing. As an artist, Jeremy creates audio-visual installations, interactive systems, and computer-generated music. After graduation, he is working at TU Berlin in collaboration with the Sound Innovation Lab, building machine learning models for classifying functional audio events and exploring perceptual modeling pipelines for sound design.
